In campaign mode, Bush takes on Dems.
It was a pretty cool experience and one that I won't forget anytime soon. Seeing the president (even if was just a stump speech) was something that I never thought I'd get to do in my lifetime. No president has come to this part of the country since LBJ in the Sixties.
To all the 4,000 rabid Republicans in the crowd (well there were 1 or 2 'No War! No War! No War!' people but they quickly, um, left the building) Bush is a rock star. When he gets fired up, he starts in with that drawl and people loved it. I'm more or less cynical these days about politics and politicians but this was something I'm glad I went to.
By the way, this was a perfect "Hoosiers"-type gym. I was right on half-court and Bush was on the stage at the other end. Not bad "seats" (since we stood the whole time).
